Workshop on Activating International Treaties and Human Rights Mechanisms in Iraq
The Democracy House Organization (DHO) conducted a workshop in Najaf Governorate with the participation of members of Parliament as part of the Women’s Access to Justice Project. The project relies on a comprehensive approach to support women in their efforts to access justice, aiming to enhance the status of women by informing them of their rights and entitlements as citizens.
Dr. Batoul Farouk, Member of Parliament, participated in the workshop and emphasized the importance of women’s role in society and ways to secure all their rights.
The Women’s Access to Justice Project is a national initiative implemented in partnership with the Swiss Embassy in Amman and funded by the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The project aims to:
Reduce the vulnerability and suffering of marginalized women
Build human capital among women
Facilitate women’s access to the legal system and ensure fair outcomes
Through legal empowerment courses, women will learn how to:
Navigate the stages of the judicial system in Iraq
Represent vulnerable women’s cases in court
Become more assertive in exercising their rights and interests
