Activation of International Treaties and Human Rights Mechanisms in Iraq
In cooperation with the British Embassy in Baghdad, the Democracy House Organization (DHO) launched the project “Activating International Treaties and Human Rights Mechanisms in Iraq.” A series of workshops were conducted in Baghdad, Karbala, and Muthanna governorates, targeting government officials and civil society organizations.
The workshops helped to:
Increase participants’ awareness of international human rights mechanisms and the laws ratified by the Iraqi government.
Teach how to enforce these laws effectively.
The strategy of the Democracy House Organization aims to train the most influential groups in spreading and strengthening the implementation of international treaties and mechanisms. Target groups include:
Human rights activists.
University professors and students.
Media professionals.
Government bodies, police, and members of the judiciary in Iraq.
Additionally, the Democracy House Organization held a conference to discuss the outcomes of the project phases, producing important recommendations to develop and strengthen human rights concepts.
